Kamala Pledges $750 to Helene Victims After Sending $8B to Ukraine

Over the weekend, Vice President Harris campaigned on the West Coast while a hurricane caused catastrophic destruction in the nation’s southwest, leaving hundreds dead and many more missing.

On Wednesday, Harris visited Georgia, just two days after former President Trump, and announced a widely criticized aid package of $750 for hurricane victims. During her speech in Augusta, she emphasized, “Federal relief through FEMA includes $750 to cover urgent needs such as food and baby formula. Applications are now open.”

This amount is only $50 more than what was offered to victims of the 2023 Maui wildfires, many of whom lost their homes and loved ones.

In contrast, just last week, the Biden-Harris administration pledged $8 billion in aid to Ukraine. Speaking at the White House with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Harris stated, “We will continue to provide Ukraine with the security assistance needed to succeed on the battlefield, as shown by President Biden’s significant announcement earlier today.”

Since the war began, the administration has sent at least $175 billion to Ukraine over the past two years.

The stark difference between the support for Hurricane Helene victims and Ukraine has sparked intense criticism of the administration’s response.

Meanwhile, illegal immigrants continue to receive free flights, healthcare, housing, and food. Under Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, many feel that American citizens are being put last.
